The path to becoming an Italian citizen Can be long and is likely to test your patience.

We promise it is worth the wait!

Many people can wait up to two years or more for their citizenship:

Here are some ways you can speed up the process:

Consulate Appointments

  • We encourage our clients to check online often for consulate appointments, as they go quickly! Often you will see that the appointments are booked one or two years out, but don't let this discourage you. There are cancelations, so if you check often you should be able to find an appointment. This is why it is important to get your documents apostilled and translated as soon as possible, in case an appointment opens up.

  • Once you are granted citizenship, passport appointments will be available much quicker than citizenship appointments.

Translations

  • We highly recommend not waiting to have everything translated at once but instead getting it translated as you go. That way, if you do get a last-minute consulate appointment, it will be much easier and faster to put all of the required documents together.

Italian Vital Records

  • Obtaining these records is perhaps the longest and most difficult part of the whole process. If you are in a rush, request these ASAP. They can take months to receive.
